Our goal is to maintain a secure, challenging, and nurturing school environment, where students develop a strong sense of integrity and respect for others. In order to promote this goal, students are expected to take care in the language they use, the attitudes they express, and the behaviors they exhibit.
The standards of student conduct are designed to provide students with guidance to help them meet the goals and expectations of our community. The Community Trust Agreement, class rules and school policies should be reviewed carefully. This Trust Agreement is central to many discussions within each classroom community. These discussions provide guidance for proper student behavior and establish the foundation for development of each child as respectful and responsive global citizens.
The policies and standards apply any time a student is on campus, any time a student is participating in or attending a School-sponsored event on or off campus, any time a student is officially representing the School, and any time a student is traveling on behalf of the School.
In addition, the School regards any behavior prejudicial to the best interests of the School, whether at School or elsewhere, as sufficient grounds for a disciplinary response. Violations will result in serious consequences, up to and including suspension or dismissal from School. Students may also be held responsible for any damage or harm that they cause to individuals and/or the School community at large.
Consistent application of disciplinary policies is sought, although each situation is judged on its merits, and every effort will be made to ensure that decisions are not arbitrary.
The policies and rules outlined in this Handbook should not be read as an all-inclusive description of the School’s standards, which are based on honesty, respect, trust, and safety. Any behavior that constitutes a breach of these School values may be treated as a major School rule violation. Students are expected to comply with School standards and rules, and they are also encouraged to discuss with their fellow students, guides/faculty members or administration any issues or infractions of School standards and rules toward the purpose of caring for one another in a spirit of kindness and of what is best for each person in the School community.
