Academic honesty represents a core belief of the Alcuin School community and provides the foundation for our integrity as individuals and as a community in all areas of life. As we implement our social and moral obligation to help create a more peaceful world, we are committed to creating an environment that honors those who act honorably.
The International Baccalaureate Organization® affirms Academic Honesty as “a set of values and skills that promote personal integrity and good practice in teaching, learning and assessment. It is influenced and shaped by a variety of factors including peer pressure, culture, parental expectations, role modeling and taught skills.” (Academic Honesty, International Baccalaureate Organization®, 2007).
By working together and through ongoing communication, the Alcuin community, which includes students, faculty, administration, families and stakeholders, is creating a culture of academic honesty. Our culture is marked by collaboration. If anyone witnesses any academic misconduct, we believe that person is responsible for bringing it to the attention of a guide/faculty member or administrator immediately. Our Academic Honesty Agreements guide our actions and form the foundation of our culture of academic honesty.
