Tutors and other professionals (e.g., speech-language therapists) who have been approved to work with Alcuin School students on the school’s campus are available to contract directly and privately with parents in order to work with their child(ren). The Director of Learning Services serves as a coordinator for referring parents to approved tutors and therapists and assisting with the scheduling of the time and location of such services to be carried out on campus. Parents will be asked to sign a waiver agreement with the school before such tutoring can begin on the school’s campus. Guide/faculty member or parent referrals to school-approved professionals must be approved by the Director of Learning Services and/or Division Head. Young children with documented learning needs can be released from the classroom for these one-on-one sessions. Any request for a student to receive during-school tutoring or therapy more than twice per week will require documentation of diagnostic testing that substantiates such a professional recommendation. Tutoring of older students, particularly those in Upper Elementary, Middle and Upper School divisions, may need to be scheduled for sessions before or after school hours. Any related classroom observations by a non-parent must be arranged through the appropriate Division Head. Alcuin School staff may not tutor any of their current Alcuin School students.
