Birthdays are observed at school with a small celebration that honors the child and the community. This is not a birthday party at school. Each level has its own guidelines for birthday celebrations that are distributed to parents from the classroom. When in doubt, call the guide/faculty member. If parents are giving a birthday party for their child outside of school and plan to invite children from the class, it is better to invite only a few or to invite them all. When most of the class, but not all of the class, is invited, feelings get hurt. Please mail the invitations. Do not send them to school for distribution.
Due to liability factors and because of the wear and tear on the facilities of the school, Alcuin School facilities, buildings, and grounds may not be used for individual birthday parties. This policy in no way prohibits or affects classroom centered birthday celebrations planned pursuant to each Division’s educational policy.
