Unrestricted gifts to the school, as well as gifts to existing funds, are encouraged and most appreciated. However, parents are asked not to give individual gifts or to solicit money for gifts for guides/faculty members, assistants or other staff members. Student-made gifts and handwritten notes for guides/faculty members are encouraged. Class gifts for staff for their wedding, birth of a baby, or death in the family may be solicited after gaining permission from the Division Head.
Gifts-in-kind are accepted if needed--otherwise they are directed towards the Parents’ Club Auction. Valuation of such gifts for tax purposes is the responsibility of the donor. All solicitation for funds to be used for Alcuin School sponsored activities must be approved beforehand by the Associate Head of School for Institutional Advancement. This is to ensure that parents are not solicited more often than necessary. The solicitation to parents for the classroom auction project is limited to $20.00.
Holiday Gifts for Faculty and Staff - In place of a holiday gift, parents are encouraged to make a donation to the Giving Tree at the time of winter holiday, a fund that is administered by the Parents’ Club. Giving Tree’s total collections will be divided equally among all staff members and distributed in December before the holiday break.
Gifts may also be made in memory or in honor of faculty or staff to the endowment fund or other designated funds.
Please contact the Philanthropy Office for questions about gifts or fundraising. See the Ways of Giving in the Alcuin Advisor about ways to contribute to the school.
