Observation - When a child is ready to move to the next level, parents are encouraged to
participate in Parent Observation and Chats for that level. These events are facilitated by the Division Heads. The website calendar details the dates and levels for each event. Parents can best prepare their child for these transitions by also attending “Journey and Discovery” usually held in the Fall each year.
Classroom Orientation Meeting – After the General Parents’ Meeting at the start of the
school year, each class will have a presentation devoted to curriculum, expectations and
classroom guidelines. These meetings are essential for helping the child to get off to a good
start as practical information is covered.
Listening - It is important for parents to listen to their child to help prepare him/her for a
transition. He/She will probably express a mixture of excitement and anxiety. Listening to the
child’s feelings and expressing support will make a difference.
Placement - Although we cannot take specific requests for guides at the next level, we
encourage conversations with division heads about your child so we can best prepare to
meet their needs and ensure proper placement.
